Thank you Andy!

July 29, 2024

Andy LeBlanc's last day as Zoology's Computing Manager is August 31, 2024. Andy was part of the Zoology Computing Unit (ZCU) for 16 years.

Andy has been such an integral part of Zoology, bringing a generous and calming presence to the ZCU and a calm and efficient approach to helping us all with our computer and IT challenges.  He will certainly be missed, but we know he will thrive in this new role and create countless cherished memories with his loved ones.
___________

The ZCU grabbed Andy in 2008 and since then he has excelled at strategically managing expectations and streamlining robust and holistic best practices to sharpen plans and institutionalize linkages with laser-like focus and creative ideation.  Andy's proactive dynamic synergism pushed the peanut to the next level and put a stake in the ground.  He has a great future ahead of him.

It was great working with Andy.  He was always friendly, and would willingly take anything on when needed, even if it were not fun.  Although he knew I welcomed comments and criticism about my intended course of action, Andy was always so tactful with his feedback that I never needed to face-palm if he had a good point.  And in the same spirit, I think Andy succeeded in his goal of making every visit to your local IT professional a welcoming and non-judgemental experience.

Andy is an intelligent problem solver, but his real superpower is his quick common sense.  He can concisely make some things sound obvious -- things that would require another geek to explain via extended reasoning.  Coffee-time conversations with Andy could span a huge range of cultural and current events and also his many interests including videography, puppet-making and science fiction.  His hair length also ranged widely during his tenure at the ZCU, as evidenced by these photos from Richard Sullivan.  On at least one occasion (on a bus) Andy was mistaken for Jesus.  That's the long and the short of it.
