In Memoriam of David J. Randall

David J. Randall Obituary 2024

Dr. David J. Randall was a professor in the Department of Zoology, University of British Columbia from 1963-2003. Known not only for being an inspirational faculty member, Dr. Randall was the president of the Canadian Society of Zoologists, a recipient of an Award of Excellence from the American Fisheries Society, and an elected fellow of both the Royal Society of Canada and the Brazilian Academy of Sciences. In his career he trained over 20 MSc students, 30 doctoral students and 14 post-doctoral fellows. Of these, 32 have secured faculty positions at universities in Canada and around the world. There will be a mass at St James Church, 2777 Townline Road, Abbotsford on Friday, April 12th at 3pm with light refreshments to follow. All are welcome.

The BC, Musqueam and UBC flags (temporarily relocated to the East Mall Entrance and Plaza at the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre) will be lowered on Thursday, April 11, 2024 in remembrance of Professor Emeritus David J. Randall passed away April 4, 2024. Dr. Randall served in the Department of Zoology, Faculty of Science.
