developmental neurobiology

who?
We are a new lab in the Department of Zoology at the University of British Columbia. We are a passionate group of scientists working to solve unanswered questions in neuroscience.

what?
We harness the power of genetics, microscopy, and sequencing technologies to decode the molecular blueprints that instruct synapse formation. We primarily use the mighty nematode C. elegans.

why?
Neurons communicate through the synapse, a highly specialized structure built from hundreds of proteins. By studying the genetic programs that control synaptic gene expression, we can discover new genetic targets to improve medical outcomes associated with neurological disorders.

Our laboratory is located on the UBC Point Grey (Vancouver) campus, which sits on the traditional, ancestral, unceded territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) First Nation.
