Current Research
My research aims at determining the effects of ocean acidification (OA) on the early developmental stage of molluscs.
More specifically I am looking at oysters (Crassostrea gigas) with the intend of determining how the larvae will be affected by exposition to high partial pressure of carbon dioxide (pCO2). Also I would like to determine when in their development the youngsters are more vulnerable to exposition at elevated pCO2.
Acclimation is looked upon as well as to determine if the larvae grown at higher pCO2 will survive better when transplanted in the ocean than the larvae grown at optimal conditions (lower pCO2).
This is all conducted in aquaculture settings and scale due to economical lost already experienced locally and potentially due to ocean acidification.
