CONNECTIVE TISSUE PROPER DENSE ELASTIC
This is a cross section through the muscular layer of the aorta. This layer is made of longitudinal sheets of elastic tissue (A: they are cut in cross section) and smooth muscles (in B: not visible with this staining). There is as much if not more elastic tissue than muscular tissue.
The structure of the muscular layer of the aorta is a bit like
the structure of a lasagna:
the layers of pasta are like the layers of elastic tissue,
and the filling would
be equivalent to the smooth muscle tissue.
