A: Skin
B: Hypodermis
a1: Epidermis
a2: Dermis

1: Dermis - reticular layer
2: Dermis - papillary layer
3: stratum basale (=germinativum)
4: stratum spinosum
5: stratum granulosum
6: stratum lucidum
7: stratum corneum

b: dermal papillae
c: duct of sweat gland.
The duct is convoluted (not straight) so a section to the top part of such a tube will look like a section through a corkscrew.

The protective layer or epidermis is very thick, so this skin covers the soles of your feet that needs far more protection than the skin of your belly. If you have difficulties differentiating between thin and thick skins, go to parts 3 and 4 of the previous exercise (mini).
