Sweat glands are found in the skin.
Their duct as well as their secretory tube is extremely convoluted.
To look at a photomicrograph of a section through a sweat gland,
click on the section plane in the diagram.
- The duct has been sectioned 9 times (A)
and the secretory tube 4 times (B). The sections
through the duct have the same diameter: this means that the duct does not ramify (otherwise,
the diameters would be different). The gland is not straight otherwise
it would be sectioned only once.
- The cells of the secretory tubes are larger and lighter than the cells of the duct wall.
The black dots on the photomicrograph are the nuclei.
