Synopsis

In Biology 364 you will learn about the respiratory, cardiovascular and osmoregulatory systems in vertebrates.  The course focuses on the physiology of animals, mainly at the whole animal level.  In the lectures we will cover topics such as respiratory structures, blood pressure regulation and kidney function.  Some of the general questions ask in the course are: What is a respiratory system, a circulatory system? How does it work? What are the functions of respiratory systems, circulatory systems, kidneys? What are the different respiratory strategies that animals use? How do they regulate blood pressure?” How can animals live at high altitudes or dive to great depths?
