Research description:
My research explores how viruses evolve and adapt within wildlife hosts and when they jump to another species; more specifically, I focus on white-tailed deer and other species of agricultural and public health importance. Using genomics and evolutionary biology, I investigate viral diversity and cross-species transmission to better understand how infectious diseases emerge. By pairing computational analyses with creative science communication, I aim to connect viral processes to broader questions of biodiversity, conservation and human health.
