My research takes place in the temperate moss microarthropod communities of British Columbia, Canada. These communities are mostly made up of mites and springtails and to a lesser extent spiders, psuedoscorpions, and other small insects. The high species richness, high abundances and the ability to completely census an area make these systems excellent models on which to test community level hypotheses.

Trophic rank and the species-area relationship
In this experiment I examined how the rate at which species accumulate with increasing area varies between trophic levels.

Reserve Design
In this experiment I have set out to determine how different reserve designs meet the goals of maintaining biodiversity and serving as a source for the surrounding region under harvesting pressure. see more >
